GreenPower Motor Company manufactures a complete line of medium- and heavy-duty electric vehicles, which include lower-floor and high-floor models. The EV Star Cab & Chassis is their most popular vehicle and it can be customized to meet a variety of applications. The platform's design philosophy of clean sheets allows the best battery pack placement and a lower center of gravity, which results in better payload to range ratios.
The EV Star REEFERX is designed to be used for mid-to-last mile refrigerated delivery as well as catering applications. The class 4 refrigerated trucks with a single wall structure inside and a higher insulation level than conventional trucks, enable seamless sanitation and better temperature control. They also have a longer lifespan. The EV Star REEFERX provides superior cargo capacity and a top payload to range ratio that is ideal for zero-emission goods and passenger transportation.
GreenPower has partnered with Perrone Robotics in order to equip the EV Star with TONY (To navigate you) autonomous vehicle systems, which will enable fleets to transition to autonomous vehicles. The AV Star is also capable of wireless charging up to 75 kW.
We had the chance to test drive the EV9 for several hours on a local freeway, and found it easy to drive and comfortable for long distances. green mobility scooter is smooth on bumps and ruts, while the EV9 does a great job of reducing wind and road noise on the highway. The acceleration of the vehicle is astonishingly quick, and it features adjustable regenerative brakes that permit "one-pedal driving" simply by lifting off the accelerator.
The EV9 provides a large range and can be charged in just three hours or less at home, or with any commercial charger. Drivers have the option of choosing between two modes of operation: eco mode and sports mode. The eco mode prioritizes torque and cruise control, while the sport mode is designed to maximize speed and handling. Both are fun to drive and offer an experience unlike any other for anyone who has not driven an electric vehicle before.
GreenPower offers several other eVehicles, including a multipurpose all-electric minibus dubbed the EV Star. The EV Star is ADA-compliant and can be used as executive shuttles, microtransit or transit vanpools, buses, or paratransit vehicles.
GreenPower is currently producing around 10 EV Star buses a month for the Jacksonville Transit Authority, which is working to replace their fleet of old diesel vehicles with 100 fully electric vehicles. GreenPower will increase production to meet the demands of the Biden Administration who is planning to electrify all school buses in America. Their EV Star buses are the first of their kind to be Altoona tested and FMVSS-certified, Buy America compliant, and ADA conforming. This means that they are eligible for federal transit assistance grants. We will be following the AV Star as it begins its public demonstration tour later this year.
